Has There Been a ‘Mayhem’ Supplement Recall?

As we reported in last week’s blogs, there have been reports of hidden ingredients in dietary supplements, which have led to large-scale recalls. Moreover, even after recalls take place, the dangerous products can be found for sale.

In fact, a study revealed that more than two dozen supplements that were recalled after they were discovered to contain anabolic steroids or prescription drugs were found back on the market for purchase with the same ingredients.

Recently, a supplement maker announced that it was recalling Mayhem dietary capsules marketed to bodybuilders, after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found two undeclared drugs in the products.

According to the Pharmacy Times, the recalled lots reportedly contain “undeclared dexamethasone, a prescription corticosteroid used to treat inflammatory conditions, and cyproheptadine, a prescription antihistamine used to treat seasonal allergies.”

The website reported that the ingredients could cause adverse effects when combined with other drugs. Chaotic Labz manufactures the Mayhem product.
