Are You Suffering with Chronic Diarrhea While Taking Benicar?
If you suffer from chronic diarrhea and have taken the blood pressure medications Benicar, Benicar HCT, Azor, Tribenzor and other generics, you may have a claim to compensation for the injuries you have sustained.
Olmesartan medoxomil is the drug in Benicar, Benicar HCT, Azor, and Tribenzorreviously. It was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in early 2002. However, many lawsuits allege that Daiichi Sankyo and Forest Laboratories, Inc. (the manufacturers of the drug) were negligent by not listing certain side effects that have caused health problems for some people.
What Are Some of the Side Effects of Olmesartan Medoxomil?
Some of the previously unlisted side effects of olmesartan medoxomil include:
- Chronic diarrhea;
- Rapid weight loss;
- Vomiting/nausea;
- Malnutrition;
- Dehydration;
- Acute kidney failure.
Some of these side effects were not listed when the drug was approved in 2002. In 2013, the FDA ordered Daiichi Sankyo and Forest Laboratories, Inc. to add warning labels listing these possible side effects.
Even so, these warnings only came after the drug had been on the market for over 10 years. During that period, victims who were experiencing intestinal issues were not able to receive proper treatment, because the makers of olmesartan medoxomil never listed those side effects.
