ZK Involved in Depakote Litigation
Attorneys at Zoll & Kranz, LLC (ZK) are currently involved in ongoing litigation involving a child who suffers from multiple autism spectrum disorders, whose mother was prescribed the anti-seizure drug Depakote while she was pregnant.
Our attorneys are investigating the drugs Depacon, Depakote, Depakote CP, Depakote ER, Depakene and Stavzor, which are different forms of the drug called valproic acid. These drugs been linked to birth defects among children, including decreased IQ scores, autism, and Asperger syndrome.
In addition to these issues, the drugs have also been linked to spina bifida, atrial septal defect, cleft palate, hypospadias, extra fingers or toes, and craniosynostosis.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has said that medications should not be taken by pregnant women for the prevention of migraines due to the potential side effects, and that the drugs should only be taken as a last resort to treat seizure disorders.
