Joining over 140 Propecia lawsuits currently in litigation, a man filed a lawsuit in New York that blames Merck & Co., Inc. for a variety of sexual side effects allegedly caused by its hair loss prevention drug.
The man, who resides in Arizona, took Propecia for 18 months to treat male pattern baldness. As a result, he claims, he suffers from anxiety, depressions, fatigue, mental exhaustion and sexual side effects including orgasm and ejaculation disorders and loss of libido. He says that because of these effects, he must seek continuous medical treatment and live in fear that these issues might never go away.
Warnings and Reports for Propecia Side Effects
Several users have reported similar claims, including erectile dysfunction and the risk of prostate cancer.
The FDA included an advisory label on products containing finasteride, the active ingredient in Propecia and Proscar. It has revised its label several times to include claims of sexual dysfunction and male infertility. In 2012, the FDA amended these labels to show that some of these symptoms continue even after the user stops taking the medications.
