Listeria: Has There Been a Smoked Salmon Recall?

Listeria: Has There Been a Smoked Salmon Recall?

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, a California smoked salmon distributor has recalled more than 30 varieties of its products due to a potential contamination with Listeria. This news follows the recent Listeria outbreak associated with caramel apples.
The newspaper reported that Santa Barbara Smokehouse, Inc. found Listeria on food contact surfaces during routine testing. The products listed in the recall were allegedly packed between December 17- 24, 2014.

As of last week, the company reported that no illnesses linked to the recall were reported. Recalled products include Cambridge House, Coastal Harbor, Harbor Point, Santa Barbara Smokehouse, Gelson’s Market, Fresh & Easy, Channel Island, Local Abundance, and Gordon Foods brands of smoked salmon.

Contaminated food can result in deadly illness. For further information about the recall, click here. Listeria can be extremely dangerous for older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and people with weakened immune systems.

You may be entitled to compensation for the medical care you received if you became sick due to a food manufacturer’s lack of care.
