Listeria: Has There Been a Smoked Salmon Recall?

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, a California smoked salmon distributor has recalled more than 30 varieties of its products due to a potential contamination with Listeria. This news follows the recent Listeria outbreak associated with caramel apples.
The newspaper reported that Santa Barbara Smokehouse, Inc. found Listeria on food contact surfaces during routine testing. The products listed in the recall were allegedly packed between December 17- 24, 2014.

As of last week, the company reported that no illnesses linked to the recall were reported. Recalled products include Cambridge House, Coastal Harbor, Harbor Point, Santa Barbara Smokehouse, Gelson’s Market, Fresh & Easy, Channel Island, Local Abundance, and Gordon Foods brands of smoked salmon.
