Has There Been a Valeant Pharmaceuticals Medication Recall?

Has your child suffered issues due to a recalled drug? Injuries to children over defective drugs can lead to a lifetime of pain and suffering, as some complications are irreversible.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals recently announced the recall of an inhaled medication used to treat infants at the hospital over microbial contamination fears. According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall is voluntary and was issued on December 30.

The drug involved in the recall, Virazole (ribavirin powder for solution), is reconstituted in sterile water then put into an inhaler for use.

Inhaling a product with microbial contamination could potentially lead to infection, especially among infants with vulnerable immune systems. Valeant reported that so far, there have been no reports of injuries or adverse events linked to the product.
