Stryker Hip Implant Settlement: Can I Receive Compensation?
As we reported recently in our blog, Stryker has agreed to pay more than $1 billion to settle lawsuits relating to its recalled hip implants.
The settlement is expected to pay a base amount of $300,000 per case to patients who had the devices surgically removed, but this amount may be adjusted up or down by certain criteria. There were more than 3,000 lawsuits filed against the manufacturer over its Rejuvenate and AGB II devices, which were recalled in July 2012.
The defective hip implants allegedly caused victims pain and swelling, and were linked to metal poisoning, as they reportedly corroded.
The lawsuits were consolidated in a New Jersey state court and federal court in Minnesota. To qualify for this settlement, a victim must have had his or her hip implant removed prior to November 3.
