If you have had a defective transvaginal mesh device implanted in your body, you may be entitled to compensation if you have suffered injuries.
Defective transvaginal mesh implants have been linked to recurrent pelvic organ prolapse (POP), infection, bleeding, vaginal scarring, and painful sexual intercourse.
Recently, Boston Scientific Corp was ordered to pay four women a total of $26.7 million after it was found liable for selling faulty transvaginal mesh devices. According to the Chicago Tribune, the verdict was for one of the first federal trials among thousands of lawsuits pending over the devices across the country.
The news outlet reported that Boston Scientific was ordered to pay the women $26.7 million in compensatory damages, and between $6.5 million and $6.7 million each. As part of the verdict, the company will not have to pay punitive damages.
The case was held in a Miami federal court and the verdict was decided after an eight-day trial.
Boston Scientific is facing 14,000 federal lawsuits over its transvaginal mesh devices. Earlier this year, a woman was awarded $34 million for her mesh injuries.
Currently, mesh manufacturers are being forced to conduct safety studies by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) due to the high number of adverse events that have been reported.
If you have suffered from any of the symptoms listed above, we can investigate your case and determine if you may be eligible for compensation. Our law firm offers free consultations, so don’t delay if a mesh device has injured you.
