According to Bloomberg News (9/30, Feeley, Voreacos), C.R. Bard Inc., Endo Health Solutions Inc., Boston Scientific Corp., along with two other manufacturers of vaginal-mesh implants accused of injuring thousands of women are in settlement talks.
According to the report, U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin in Charleston, West Virginia, who is overseeing the federal lawsuits targeting the implants has been asked to appoint a settlement committee.
Johnson and Johnson is also facing suits over vaginal-mesh implants, but apparently is not involved in the settlement talks.
The talks “are aimed at resolving more than 30,000 implant suits already filed that have been consolidated,” and the total number of claims could rise to over 50,000 as claimants are added to the suit.
