Did you know that acetaminophen (Tylenol) injuries send thousands of people to emergency rooms each year for treatment?
Recently, WRAL-TV spoke to a patient who suffered injuries after taking Tylenol. “My family called in a priest, and they gave me the last rites,” Antonio Benedi told the station.
Benedi used Extra Strength Tylenol at the recommended dose for a few days after coming down with the flu. Eventually, his liver began to fail and he was told he needed to have a transplant.
Benedi filed a lawsuit against the manufacturers of Tylenol, claiming they failed to warn him about the possible dangers of mixing the drug with alcohol. He was victorious in his lawsuit; however, WRAL did not report how much he received in damages.
Since the time of the lawsuit, Tylenol has gone on to lower recommended daily dosages. Sadly, each year, nearly 80,000 people are treated in emergency rooms due to injuries linked to Tylenol.
