What Are the Side Effects Linked to Transvaginal Mesh Implants?
As we have been reporting over the last few years, transvaginal mesh implants have been linked to serious complications. Examples of these injuries include vaginal mesh erosion, exposure or extrusion of the mesh, recurrent pelvic organ prolapse (POP), recurrent stress urinary incontinence (SUI), pain, infection, bleeding, organ perforation, muscular problems, vaginal scarring and painful sexual intercourse.
The FDA has announced that it is going to consider proposals to tighten standards for mesh products because of the high number of complaints linked to the devices. Some manufacturers of transvaginal mesh include C.R. Bard, Inc., Ethicon, Johnson & Johnson, American Medical Systems, Inc., Boston Scientific Corporation, Mentor Worldwide, LLC and Coloplast Corp.
Reuters reported earlier this year that there are more than 20,000 lawsuits pending over transvaginal mesh injuries across the country. ZK is currently helping women involved in this litigation process. Please call us toll-free at 888-841-9623 if you have questions or would like to have a free consultation.
